There's something about the combination of live music, ocean breezes, and golden sunsets that just feels like San Diego at its best!
From the laid-back shows at our grassy parks by the bay to bigger, high-energy festivals that draw in national acts, San Diego's summer music scene keeps growing every year.
Known as America's Finest City, our West Coast gem transforms into a sun-soaked stage with beachfront views for unforgettable outdoor concerts and music festivals that make it feel like every weekend is a new celebration.
From kid-friendly concerts to artists I think you'd really enjoy for a date night or night out with a group of your friends, our Go Visit San Diego team worked together to gather what we believe to be the best options for 2026's summer concerts and outdoor music festivals.
As our founder Todd says it best, 'there's nothing quite like listening to live music outdoors in San Diego! The warm sunny weather and good company always make summer concerts here incredibly memorable'.
What are the Top Summer Music Festivals in San Diego in 2026?
As one of America's larger cities, the biggest acts often visit San Diego, and yet local talent always seems to also be performing around the city.
While you can catch a local performance almost any night of the week at one of the area's local venues, when we're focusing on summertime 'music festivals', the majority of this year's top events will take place along the beautiful San Diego Bay in Waterfront Park.
2026 summer highlights include the Into the Horizon music festival scheduled for the weekend of June 27th and 28th, and the Holo Holo San Diego music festival set for Saturday, July 18th.
Planning Ahead: What are the Best Fall Music Festivals in 2026?
I know we're focusing mostly on the summer concerts and music festivals in this article, but if you're like me and like to plan ahead so you can secure your tickets, and perhaps a hotel near your music festival of choice, I thought I'd share a few of San Diego's upcoming fall music festivals as well.
As summer comes to a close, I'd recommend the Adams Avenue Street Fair, along Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, Kensington, Antique Row, and University Heights, which is scheduled for the weekend of September 19th and 20th, 2026. Mission Bay Fest in Mariner's Point Park scheduled for October 16th through 18th, 2026, would be one more to add to your calendar!
What are the Best Concert Venues in San Diego?
San Diego features several incredible concert venues, whether you're searching for a family-friendly show or big-name headliners. A few of the best spots include the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and Petco Park, with Waterfront Park being an excellent waterside location for a bigtime music festival.
As a bonus, our founder Todd loves the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. He'd surely tell me that it's one of the best concert venues in San Diego. Belly Up is smaller, but that creates an intimate experience where you can really feel like you're part of the performance!
