Fun Kid Attractions at Belmont Park in Mission BeachVery Fun Roller Coaster at Belmont Park

Belmont Park, in the Mission Beach neighborhood of San Diego, initially opened in 1925. It was the brainchild of sugar magnate John D. Spreckels, who wanted to attract people to the area to sell real estate. This is the same man that has the Spreckels Theater in Downtown San Diego named in his likeness and a man that made an impact all over San Diego.

Since then, the Park has been continuously developed and updated, blending heritage with innovative rides and attractions. It's no surprise that millions of people visit each year! This attraction is the ultimate family-friendly adventure, with guaranteed thrills for kids of all ages.

Belmont Park actually made our list of one of the Most Fun Things to Do in San Diego and it is the #2 of the absolute Best Things to Do in San Diego as well.

When you're ready to take a break, there are plenty of catering options and take your kids from fine dining in spectacular settings to hot-dogs-on-sticks.

Shops in and around the Mission Beach boardwalk are perfect for souvenir hunting and treating yourself to clothes and accessories to complete your active beach lifestyle.

My Favorite Hotel Nearby

Stay close to the park at The Dana on Mission Bay, one of my favorite family-friendly hotels in San Diego.

You’ll be close to Belmont Park as well as Mission Beach and SeaWorld San Diego, and with excellent views over the water, you’ll gain a whole new appreciation for Mission Bay.

Ticket Information for Belmont Park at Mission Beach

There are four different options for tickets when visiting Belmont Park.

Belmont Park has adopted a dynamic pricing model meaning the price you pay is determined based on the date of your visit, with cheaper prices during the off-season. Always check directly with the Belmont Park website for any changes or updates to the latest pricing.

Beach and Shops at Belmont Park
Beach and Shops at Belmont Park

Ride and Play Combo Pass

The Ride and Play Combo pass is an all day pass that gets you unlimited rides and attractions, except the Arcade, Escapology and the Midway Games. Be aware that height and safety restrictions apply.

Tickets range from $49.95 to $64.95 per person depending on when you visit.

If you are visiting in a group of 12 or more, you can buy a combo pack for $50 per person regardless of the day.

Annual Pass

Another option is the annual pass, which allows you to have unlimited admission to the park all year long! The price is $120 regardless of height.

Universal Tickets

The third option is to pay for each ride or attraction separately with their universal tickets. This is the most expensive if you plan on spending any time at Belmont Park but it is a good option if you just want to stop by for a quick ride or two.

Options for universal ticket packages are as follows:

  • 16-Ticket Bundle: $16
  • 30-Ticket Bundle: $30
  • Bonus Pack Bundle (70 Tickets): $60

Each ride requires a different number of tickets, so check the ticket costs for the rides you want to visit before buying a bundle.

Belmont Park also offers prepaid Game Cards on the website, which can be used at the Arcade, Lazerblast, and other games around the park. Card options include:

  • $20 Powercard with 5 bonus credits
  • $40 Powercard with 12 bonus credits
  • $60 Powercard with 20 bonus credits
  • $100 Powercard with 50 bonus credits

Enjoy Even More Attractions for the Same Price with a Go City San Diego Pass!

While the annual pass for Belmont is an incredible deal, it doesn't give you access to any other attractions in San Diego. Not to mention, a yearly pass isn't ideal for individuals who are enjoying a brief visit to the area.

If you purchase a Go City San Diego All-Inclusive pass, you can enjoy free admission to over 30 different attractions, with Belmont Park just being one of them.

This pass also gets you into the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park, SeaWorld San Diego, LEGOLAND California and even the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum to mention a few. If you plan on visiting multiple attractions in San Diego, this pass is the way to go.

To maximize your savings, you code GVSD5OFF for an exclusive bonus discount.

Another perk of the Go City San Diego pass is that Belmont Park can be better enjoyed over multiple days. The Go City San Diego All-Inclusive pass will give you the option to visit it every day for the whole duration of your pass. The same rules apply for the other attractions too!

Annual Events at Belmont Park

Belmont Park is home to several annual events. One that locals love is the yearly Beachside Fall Fest in October and November. This is an event for all ages. Your kids can trick-or-treat safely here while you enjoy live entertainment! There are also themed rides available.

Check with the calendar around the holidays to see if there are any other fun and surprising events!

Always Check the Weather Ahead of Time

Since the Park sits on the coast, the weather changes frequently. It's a great idea to check the weather before you head out so you come prepared with the proper attire.

Bring the Correct Clothing and Footwear

Some attractions require particular clothing and footwear—for instance, the pool or the rock wall. If you go to the pool, you need your swimsuit.

However, if you choose the rock wall, you need close-toed shoes. Make sure you bring these if you wish you participate in these activities!

Don’t Forget the Sunscreen

When visiting the theme park, you will be on the water and more prone to sunburn. Don't forget to bring a high SPF sunscreen with you to protect yourself against the sun's harmful rays.

Prices are Subject to Change

While we recommend the Go City San Diego pass for the best value for your trip to Belmont Park and other attractions as well as gear rentals such as paddle boards, bikes and surfboards, pricing for admission, as well as attractions and events are subject to change.

Make sure to check directly with Belmont Park for the latest.
