The Bahia Resort Hotel opens up to reveal a private beach and tropical paradise right in San Diego, complete with a junior Olympic-size pool and 30-person whirlpool. The resort, on the beautiful Mission Bay, is close to bike paths, Ventura Cove Park and Santa Barbara Cove.
Sail Bay is close too, on the north side of Mission Bay. With all the resort has to offer, guests do spend much of their time there. Onsite activities include shuffleboard, tennis, swimming, exploring the tropical gardens and climbing at the children’s playground. Other resort options include seasonal volleyball, live music, ice cream socials, kids’ activities and movie nights at the pool.

The Bahia Resort Hotel offers 314 guest rooms and suites in many configurations. It’s a family-friendly place that is also great for couples and solo travelers. Amenities include a private beach, private garden, outdoor pool, 30-person hot tub, fitness center, game room, beach cabanas, two outdoor tennis courts, restaurants, a business center, gift shop and limo/car service.
The onsite dining options are Cafe Bahia, Tangier Bar, Airstream Grab ‘N Go and the pool bar and grill (the latter from March to June). In the morning, Cafe Bahia focuses on Southern California cuisine and offers breakfast buffets, fruits, juices, pastries, grains and more in a Mediterranean atmosphere. Lunch, dinner, kids’, dessert and wine menus are also available. Sample the daily market fish, or try the honey-mustard glazed salmon, veal meatball skillet, roasted half chicken or the many other mouthwatering dishes.
In addition to the private beach, guests have access to many miles of public sandy beaches. Quite a few San Diego attractions are within walking distance, for example, Mission Bay (one minute), Belmont Park (7 minute walk), Mission Beach Boardwalk (9 minute walk) and Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach (39 minute walk).
If you prefer to drive or take a ride, SeaWorld San Diego is a five minute drive away (two miles). The zoo is about a 15 minute drive away (nine miles). A variety of boutiques, shops, nightclubs and restaurants are nearby for resort guests to walk or drive to.
