The 2026 season of performances at San Diego's Old Globe Theater looks to be one we'll be talking about for years to come!
As our founder Todd says, for locals, The Old Globe is more than just a theater - it's woven into our memories and our sense of community.
Without further ado, let's have a look at the performances for the 2026 season at The Old Globe!
Kim's Convenience
May 15th – June 14th, 2026 | Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre | San Diego Premiere
- Single tickets on sale now!
If the title sounds familiar, that's probably because the play, turned sitcom, aired all five of its seasons on Netflix.
Set in 2011, 'Kim's Convenience', a story of love, identity and resilience, written by and starring Ins Choi, follows Korean-born Mr. Kim, a Toronto convenience store owner, as he tries to raise his Canadian children with traditional values as generational tensions arise in an evolving neighborhood of change.
Our founder Todd just went to see this show and told me that he honestly didn't realize how funny a performance could actually be. He said that with just five actors, it was really well-done, and one he would totally recommend to his friends and family.

Returning in 2026, the 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare is ideal for families, young audiences, and experienced language experts. The show will begin on Saturday, May 30th at 11:00am.
The Hombres
May 30th – June 21st, 2026 | Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre | San Diego Premiere
- Single tickets on sale now!
'The Hombres', a witty and deeply human look at machismo, friendship, and the bonds that can grow between men when they let their guards down, tells the story of Hector and his crew of construction workers, a gritty group with a lot of bravado, to say the least. When the yoga studio next door complains about their catcalling, they're invited to try a class. It's at that point that they start rethinking everything they know about strength and flexibility.
Scheduled for The Old Globe's 250 seat theater, this sounds like a perfect date night to me!
Measure for Measure
June 14th – July 12th, 2026 | Lowell Davies Festival Theatre | Shakespeare
- Single tickets on sale now!
If you happened to read the book in high school like I did, then you may remember this Shakespeare story classic.
'Measure for Measure' explores themes of power and punishment, and what it truly means to be virtuous. If you're not familiar with the story, Vienna Duke suddenly disappears, and his rigid deputy takes over. When he condemns a young man to death and propositions the man's sister, the story takes a surprising turn.
Our founder Todd plans to see this show with his wife this summer. He tells me that seeing a play at The Old Globe, especially outdoors at the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre on a summer night, feels like a true San Diego experience.
North by Northwest
July 3rd – August 2nd, 2026 | Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre | North American Premiere
- Single tickets on sale now!
Theater legend Emma Rice is set to bring her inventive take to The Old Globe this season with the Alfred Hitchcock classic 'North by Northwest'.
In its North American premiere performance, the story will transport you back to the Cold War where an ad man is mistaken for a spy. When he goes on the run, the action heats up. With a 1950's soundtrack, a backdrop of Mount Rushmore, and just six incredibly talented performers, this show will have all the elements of an instant classic!
Cyrano
July 18th – August 9th, 2026 | Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre | Romantic Comedy
- Single tickets go on sale Friday, May 29th, 2026 at 1:00pm
Full disclosure here, the story of Cyrano is one of my personal all-time favorites!
'Cyrano' is not the most attractive man, but he is a brilliant poet and hopeless romantic. When the beautiful woman he has been pining for years falls in love with a handsome young soldier, he decides to hide his true feelings and lend his loving words to his rival so he can win her over.
A timeless story bursting with comedy, romance, and a healthy dose of wittiness, the question becomes, 'who will get the girl in the end'? You'll have to see the show to find out!
Much Ado About Nothing
August 2nd – August 30th, 2026 | Lowell Davies Festival Theatre | Shakespeare
- Single tickets go on sale Friday, June 19th, 2026 at 1:00pm
If you're a Shakespeare fan, here's another show to put on your list for 2026!
'Much Ado About Nothing', often cited as one of the greatest romantic comedies ever written, is set to be performed on the outdoor stage at the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. That alone will be a real San Diego treat.
If you're not familiar with the story, the main characters Beatrice and Benedick are a perfect match. And everyone knows it, except them! When their friends become determined to bring them together, that's when all the shenanigans begin!
Directed by celebrated Shakespeare director Barry Edelstein, our founder Todd and his wife are looking to buy a season pass so they can be sure to lock in the date they want to see this performance.
Begin Again
September 6th – October 11th, 2026 | Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre | World Premiere Musical
- Single tickets go on sale Friday, July 24th, 2026 at 1:00pm
If you enjoy the music of the band "Train", this musical is for you!
'Begin Again' features an original score by GRAMMY Award winner Pat Monahan of "Train". This one will have you watching the collaboration grow between a heartbroken songwriter and a record producer in a truly riveting story of passion and purpose. The musical is inspired by the Academy Award-nominated film written and directed by John Carney.
Top Dog/Underdog
September 25th – October 18th, 2026 | Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre | Thrilling Drama
- Single tickets go on sale Friday, August 7th, 2026 at 1:00pm
Broadway director Steve H. Broadnax III will be returning this September to the Globe after last season's thrilling Appropriate to direct a new staging of Suzan-Lori Parks's Pulitzer Prize-winning modern classic.
'Top Dog/Underdog' is the story of two brothers who are trying to survive on the streets. Through hustle, resentment, and the promise of the American Dream, you'll get to watch their bond unfold in a funny, provocative, and charged way as they walk the line between ambition and self-destruction!
Performed on the smallest theatre in the complex, the talent it takes to perform with the audience all around you will make this show another one not to miss!
