Overview

Park and Beach from Above at Glorietta Bay Park and BeachLifeguard Tower and Beach at Glorietta Bay Park and Beach

Glorietta Bay Park is a city park owned and operated by Coronado. It has a small beach facing San Diego Bay with amazing views of the Coronado Bay Bridge.

Facing not only San Diego Bay but also Glorietta Bay, this beach is unusually protected for the San Diego area. This helps to make it a popular spot for families, swimmers and others who want a break from the strong waves and surf of the Pacific Ocean.

The relative serenity is immediately obvious when you arrive. There is only a gentle lapping of waves rather than the crashing you’ll hear at the major surf beaches. This helps make it a great place to simply relax by the water.

You’ll get some amazing views of the downtown San Diego skyline from the beach. It faces directly toward the city. Plus, with easy access to the beach town of Coronado Island, you’ll never be too far from the amenities you need.

This is a great spot whether you are visiting with your family or just seeking a calm beach for a relaxing day. When you are visiting San Diego, put Glorietta Bay Park & Beach on your to-do list.

Calm Waters

The beach is facing the San Diego Bay. Furthermore, it is tucked into Glorietta Bay in Coronado. In other words, this beach is very protected against the stronger currents of the ocean.

Local Tips
Picnic with a View
"Have a picnic at Glorietta Bay Park on a picnic table or setup a blanket on the well-maintained grassy area for a meal with a view of San Diego bay with the San Diego Skyline in the background."

It is a great place to swim or paddle in the shallows. Again, this helps make this beach a popular choice for families because parents don’t have to worry about kids struggling with big waves.

Watersports

The calm waters help make Glorietta Bay Park & Beach ideal for paddle boarding, kayaking, boating and more. Finding a beach that is good for these activities can be difficult in the San Diego area due to the strong surf from the Pacific.

Better yet, the Coronado Clubroom & Boathouse offers rentals and lessons for kayaking and paddle boarding. It is open seven days a week and offers very reasonable rates. It is located within the park.

Grassy Park

As mentioned above, this is both a city park and a beach. If you want to take a break from the sand, you only need to walk a short distance to the rear of the beach. The grassy park area is great for relaxing in the shade of the trees.

There are picnic benches on the grass and on the sand. Additionally, within the park is a paved bike path. It is a great area for running, biking, walking and other activities whenever you want a break from the beach.
