I think there’s something magical about the holiday season that evokes thoughts of a winter wonderland, carols, Santa, his sleigh, and, of course, the iconic Nutcracker!
The timeless Nutcracker Suite alone conjures images of gifts, families coming together, and childhood wonder.
Fans of Tchaikovsky will be happy to hear that the San Diego City Ballet is bringing the Nutcracker ballet for the 2024 holiday season. The audiences will get to see Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the entire cast at the Concert Hall in Escondido for their 30th annual performance.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or seeing it for the first time, this year’s big anniversary is one you won’t want to miss!

Classic Nutcracker Ballet City Ballet
What to Expect
Ahead of the performance, you will find carolers performing holiday favorites in the lobby. You can then enjoy the full length ballet, accompanied by the City Ballet Orchestra, as they bring Tchaikovsky’s world-famous composition to life.
You’ll get to watch as Clara receives the Nutcracker from her grandfather. Then you can cheer for them in their battle against the villainous Mouse King. You can also marvel at the delectable costume of the Sugar Plum Fairy, dazzling sets, intricate choreography, and so much more!
And I must admit that I have a bit of a personal connection to The Nutcracker as my daughter has performed in it for many years!
