Easter is one of those holidays that sneaks up on my family and me every year. It seems like we're just finishing spring break with our kids, and the next thing we know, it's Easter Weekend!

We're huge fans of the holidays and even put together a complete guide to all the holidays in San Diego, including the best new Easter egg hunts for 2026. Our team worked together to gather the information and add in our personal experiences from years past so that you and your family can be ready for fun times!

A Focus on Easter Egg Hunts, But…

You'll quickly notice that our list is very family-friendly with tons of Easter egg hunt options for kids up to about 12 years old.

But we also mixed in a couple of 21+ events that are more for the 'kids are heart'. So don't worry if you don't have little ones in tow; you'll find a couple of social options for you on our list as well.

The 9 Best Easter Egg Hunts in San Diego in 2026

When it comes to Easter egg hunts and Easter events and activities, San Diego has a pretty impressive list of options.

Let's have a look at what our team believes to be the best-of-the-best Easter egg hunts and festivals in San Diego for 2026!

1) Easter Egg & Social at Belmont Park

Neighborhood: Mission Beach
San Diego Attractions: Belmont Park
Date: April 5th, 2026
When 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Cost: $10

We'll kick off our Easter egg hunt list for 2026 with a new event to our list that looks like it should be a lot of fun!

Hosted at Fit Social at Belmont Park and featured as part of our Complete Guide to All the Holidays in San Diego, the kids will get to hunt for treasures and celebrate spring with ocean views, fresh air, food, and festive fun. Participants will have the opportunity to win golden eggs with prizes.

To keep the event fair, it will be divided into separate age groups, as follows:

  • Round 1: 1:00 pm for ages 2-6
  • Round 2: 1:30 pm for ages 7-12
  • Round 3: 2:00 pm for ages 2-6
  • Round 4: 2:30 pm for ages 7-12

You must buy tickets for your round separately. They can be purchased on the Belmont Park website.

Why We Love This Event

I know Todd and his kids love Belmont Park and an Easter egg hunt for the kids there with the beachy atmosphere and old-school theme park flair should be 'very San Diego'.

This will be a new one for us in 2026 but I do know that Belmont Park always does a fantastic job with their seasonal events, especially when it comes to their decorations and picture opportunities.

2) Easter Eggspress: Egg Quest and Story Time

Neighborhood: Balboa Park
Balboa Park Museums: San Diego Model Railroad Museum
Address:
San Diego Model Railroad Museum: 1649 El Prado San Diego, CA 92101
Date: March 28th & 29th, 2026
When: 10:00am -12:00pm each day
Cost: Ages 2 & Up $20 | Under 2 free

This exciting two-day event for kids of all ages will be held at one of Balboa Park's kid-friendly museums, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.

The event will take place before the museum officially opens with an 'egg quest' around the property. But this isn't just the same old Easter egg hunt!

The kids will be tasked with finding hidden details on the railroad layouts. They'll also have to answer questions about trains, so it should be an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience!

The museum will have special trains running in the Toy Train Gallery, arts and crafts to make Easter decorations, and story time, which is really fun for the little kids. Do note that there won't be a rideable train.

After all the eggs are accounted for, your family can enjoy the museum for the rest of the day!

Tickets to this special event are $20, with infants under 2 years old admitted for free. The staff is asking for reservations even for infants, so they can keep a count of how many people in total are planning to attend.

If you can't make the Easter event this year but just want to check out one of San Diego's most interesting museums, the cheapest way to get tickets is with a Go City San Diego pass using discount code GVSD50FF.

The pass bundles admission to some of the most popular attractions in San Diego, such as the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld San Diego, LEGOLAND California, and more than a dozen museums in Balboa Park. It offers more than 50 attractions at prices lower than advertised.

Why We Love This Event

I love that this event is held on the Saturday and Sunday before the big Easter weekend, which will free my family up to do other things.

I also really like that it is more than just the average Easter egg hunt. It will offer train trivia and a bit of a scavenger hunt on the train layouts to make things more interesting.

3) EGGstravaganza Spring Festival

Neighborhood: Carlsbad
Address:
Poinsettia Community Park: 6600 Hidden Valley Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92011
Date: April 4th, 2026
When: 10:00am - 1:00pm
Cost: Free to Attend; $8 Wristbands & $8 Activity Cards

The 2026 EGGstravaganza Spring Festival is set for Saturday, April 4th, from 10:00am until 1:00pm in Poinsettia Community Park located at 6600 Hidden Valley Road.

Carlsbad's largest egg hunt is a big one, with three fields set up with candy-filled eggs just waiting to be collected by the kids.

The ongoing 'egg scramble' starts at 10:30am and lasts until 12:30pm or until the eggs run out. One field will be for kids 6 and older who want to race, one for kids 5 and under, and one for younger kids, special needs kids, and families looking to take pictures. You don't need to register to attend.

Families can also expect a fun zone, food and drinks for purchase, plus face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, a soak-the-bunny event, and much more!

$8 activity cards and $8 unlimited inflatables wristbands can be purchased up to three weeks in advance at four area community centers. The cards can be divided among kids for all the activities, but the wristbands are for each person.

Why We Love This Event

I personally think this might be the most well-thought-out Easter egg hunt in the area, with multiple fields and hundreds of eggs to collect.

The annual event features the Easter Bunny and enough crafts, candy, and inflatables to keep your kids entertained for hours!

We're going to change gears a little here and offer you a 21+ adults-only Easter event that will be a ton of fun. Ballast Point Brewing in the Little Italy neighborhood, one of San Diego's most famous breweries, is hosting an Easter Eggs & Kegs & History Hunt!

Starting at 11:00am on Saturday, April 4th, the scavenger hunt of sorts will set out from the brewery. The staff will hide over 100 Easter eggs for attendees to find. You'll also want to be on the lookout for historical markers, signs, and facts about Little Italy!

You can bring a team of four, or they'll randomly assign teams. Each team will have 75 minutes to find as many eggs as possible. The team with the most eggs, or points, wins. There will also be Mini Kegs & "Bunny Bonus Points". Join my team, and we'll figure out what those are together!

After the hunt, participants can return to Ballast Point to see which top teams win prizes, socialize, eat, and drink some awesome beer!

Why We Love This Event

Ballast Point Brewing offers some of the best and most famous beers in all of San Diego and that's in part why we decided to include this uniquely 'adult-style' Easter egg hunt as part of our Complete Guide to All the Holidays in San Diego for this year.

If you don't have kids or perhaps are just looking for a little springtime entertainment on the Saturday before Easter, I think this area scavenger hunt of sorts will be a lot of adult fun!

The event will also include a kids firefighter challenge, a mini tiller, a Home Depot workshop, and other interactive educational activities.

Why We Love This Event

This should be another fun Easter egg hunt offering multiple waves to keep the hunting groups a bit smaller.

I also love the fact that my kids will get to interact with firefighters, the true heroes of our community. It always leaves my family inspired.

7) East Egg Hunt at Mission Valley Mall

Neighborhood: Mission Valley

Mission Valley Mall: 1640 Camino Del Rio North San Diego, CA 92108
Date: March 29th, 2026
When: 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Cost: Free to Attend

As you can clearly see, Easter time in San Diego will offer you and your family quite a few options of where to do your Easter egg hunt.

Another new Easter Egg hunt to our list for 2026 that we think you should consider is the Easter Egg Hunt at the Mission Valley Mall set for Thursday afternoon, March 26th, 2026. The two-hour event will take place at the AMC Court at the lawn area in front of the theater.

The event will kick off with story time at the Trinity Theater at 12:00pm sharp. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 12:30pm. Kids can hunt for eggs filled with candy, toys, and $5 and $10 gift cards from Daily Queen, Yard House, and other Mission Valley Stores. One special egg will even have a $100 Target gift card which I'm asking my kids to find!

Other activities will include free photos with the Easter Bunny, face painters, a kids' craft station, a photo booth sponsored by San Diego Moms, and a slime kitchen with a free slime experience for the first 100 kids plus Easter-themed slime available for purchase.

Why We Love This Event

As a new item on our 2026 Easter Egg Hunt list, this one should offer a solid balance of activities for the kids with prizes they can win for the adults!

I really hope my kid finds that $100 Target gift card!

8) Brunch with the Bunny at Bernardo Winery

Address:
Rancho Bernardo: 17550 Bernardo Oaks Drive, San Diego, CA 92128
Date: April 4th, 2026
When: 10:00am - 1:00pm
Cost: Adult Tickets $80 | Kids Ticket $45 | Kids 2 and Under - Free

The next event will take you just south of Escondido and just north of Poway to the beautiful neighborhood of Rancho Bernardo. Located at 1330 Paseo Del Verano, Bernardo Winery will once again be hosting their annual 'Brunch with the Bunny' Easter event on Saturday, April 4th, 2026.

The event will include a delicious brunch with favorites from the winery's kitchen, like bacon and eggs, yogurt, fruit, and pastries. And while the food will surely be a highlight, I'm personally looking forward to the vineyard Easter egg hunt for the kids!

There will also be face painting and balloon twisting, plus cookie decorating, springtime crafts, and of course an appearance by the Easter Bunny, all while the adults enjoy orange, mango, cranberry, or guava mimosas.

Why We Love This Event

I'll be honest and say that while many of the events on my list have hundreds of eggs, no one else has an Easter egg hunt in a vineyard.

The setting of this event will be something special. The Bernardo Winery often hosts special events (like weddings) so they really know what they're doing when it comes to setting the perfect atmosphere!

This event will also be a perfect mix of adult beverages and classic Easter fun for the kids.

Local Tips & Things to Know

Now that you have the list of San Diego's top 9 Easter egg hunts for the 2026 season, let me share a few tips that will help you maximize your fun.

Are Pets Allowed?

This is a great question!

I'd say for most events, especially those at hotels, it is probably best to leave your furry friends at home. Many community events' pet policies aren't clear, so if you do bring your pets, you will be doing so at your own risk. It's good to know though that service animals are welcome at all events!

I'd suggest taking them to one of San Diego's dog-friendly beaches instead after the Easter event to be safe.

Dress Appropriately

Most of these events are outdoors and will go on rain or shine. It's very likely that San Diego's weather will be warm and sunny, but you never know!

If it is sunny, wear sunscreen and a hat if possible, and be sure to check the forecast no matter what, so you can arrive prepared.

Reserve Early

I would suggest that if the event you're considering sells tickets, get yours as early as you can. Many of them will likely sell out in advance.
