Step into Winter Wonder at Belmont Park 2025

Globe at Winter Wonder at Belmont ParkMerry Go Round at Belmont Park

The holiday magic is alive and well at Belmont Park during the park's annual Winter Wonder seasonal festivities.

Decorated in lights with live entertainment and an array of holiday events, the park will bring together two of my personal favorite things…the beach and the holiday season!

Just two miles from my home, my family and I have become regulars. A unique theme park I recommend to all of my friends and family, it's become one of my favorite parks in San Diego and the addition of the Winter Wonder festivities make it the perfect time for a visit!

What is Winter Wonder at Belmont Park 2025?

Winter Wonder is Belmont Park's themed annual seasonal event complete with festive decorations including more than a million twinkling lights to guide you through the park.

It features special holiday activities, seasonal treats and cocktails, live DJ-spun music, a ton of holiday cheer, and so much more!

When is Winter Wonder at Belmont Park?

Winter Wonder at Belmont Park will run from December 1st, 2025 until January 4, 2026. Park hours will vary daily, with many of the Winter Wonder special events taking place in the afternoon and into the evening.

It's best to check the park's site for a full rundown of upcoming events so you know exactly what is scheduled on the day that you plan to attend.

Winter Vibes & A Step Back in Time

Belmont Park just celebrated its 100th anniversary making it one of the city's oldest and longest-operating theme parks. I've visited countless times over the years, during all seasons at this point. It makes it quite easy for me when I happen to live a short walk from the park.

My family and I enjoy stopping in on a warm summer afternoon after a visit to Mission Beach, or during one of the park's many holiday events like The Beachside Fall Fest in the fall of course, and during the Belmont in Bloom Festival in the spring.

Over the winter, I love the Winter Wonder event as well which does an awesome job of bringing the holiday spirit to San Diego County's only theme park right along the beachfront.

Winter Wonder Ticket Information

The first thing you'll want to know about taking your family to Winter Wonder at Belmont Park is that admission is FREE. However, if you want to enjoy a few rides, play a few games, or take part in some of the holiday activities, those things will require tickets.

Let's dive into the ticketing details you'll want to know before you go!

Discount Ride Tickets

If your kids are like mine, there's a good chance they'll want to go on some rides and play some games.

Your cheapest and best option for unlimited rides is to get a Go City San Diego pass using discount code GVSD5OFF. The Belmont Park Ride & Play Pass is included with all pass types. Your Go Pass will also include admission to some of San Diego's other most popular attractions like SeaWorld San Diego for their Christmas Celebration and the world-famous San Diego Zoo which holds their annual Jungle Bells event this time of year.

You can also purchase the Belmont Park Ride & Play Pass as a standalone option.

The Belmont Park Ride & Play Pass gives you unlimited rides at the park for attractions like the Liberty Carousel, Giant Dipper Roller Coaster (my daughter's personal favorite), and Krazy Kars, which my Go Visit San Diego team always tells me is one of their favorite rides!

Are There Other Ticket Options?

Yes! Individual day passes are available through the park, starting at $44.95 for unlimited rides and attractions.

There are also ticket ride bundles ranging from $16 to $60. You can choose the bundle you want depending on how many rides you and your kids want to try.

Arcade Cards and More!

The park has carnival style games as well as arcade games that are actually quite fun. They give the park its vintage feel, something that I find truly unique in San Diego.

If you want to purchase arcade cards so you and your kids can spend some time gaming. Powercards start at $20.

Tour the never-ending thrills of Belmont Park's rides and games as Todd takes an insider look at this fun-filled favorite attraction. Keep the fun going with the Go City San Diego ride and play pass!

Winter Wonder Experiences You Won't Want to Miss

Belmont Park is well known for its seasonal events!

Each festival offers a fresh set of colorful decorations (and an incredible variation and volume of Christmas lights during Winter Wonder) for the park for the season, offering plenty of picture opportunities. Honestly, I think the best part is that it really makes it easy to get into the holiday spirit!

In terms of special wintertime events, you'll find ornament decorating at Draft on select nights from 4:00pm to 9:00pm for just $10 and Classic Holiday Movie Trivia on December 17th this year…but that's just the start!

Here are some of the additional featured events for Winter Wonder I think you should consider!

Jingle Jams

You can't have a holiday festival without music, right? Well live weekend entertainment is a sure thing during Winter Wonder.

Every Saturday and Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, you'll be able to enjoy DJ-spun holiday tunes at Jingle Jams. The classics and more will surely set the mood and have you dancing and singing along to all of your favorite holiday songs in no time!

Holiday Face Painting

My kids love getting their faces painted, whether that be at the Día de los Muertos celebrations each year in Old Town San Diego or during Winter Wonder at Belmont Park. I will admit that there just might even be a picture or two of me getting my face painted as well. I know my kids appreciate me joining them in the fun!

Face painting will be available from 3:00pm to 5:00pm every Saturday and Sunday during the event. I say let your kid's imagination run wild as they choose a design for their faces, and maybe you can join them as well.

Characters in the Park

If you're lucky, you just might catch a few holiday characters like Buddy the Elf and even Santa Claus walking through the park on weekends from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Have your phone ready for some fun holiday photo ops that are completely free!

Also, it can be a lot of fun to just enjoy the lights and holiday decorations while you're exploring, and remember, that part is free as well. I especially enjoy the holiday-themed tikis so don't miss those.

Tasty Treats for All!

I find that no matter what holiday event I visit, whether it be December Nights in Balboa Park or the Wild Holidays at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido, a big part of it is always the seasonal food and drink.

While you're walking around with your family, you're bound to get a little hungry and thirsty. If you're a foodie like me, you'll love the special holiday treats featured at the 2025 event!

Winter Wonderland at Draft

Draft offers year-round beachside food and craft beers that always seem to hit the spot.

When Winter Wonder comes around, Draft hosts a Christmas-themed cocktail pop-up offering seasonal food and drinks you won't want to miss. The decorations alone are worth checking out as they provide the perfect backdrop to enjoy handcrafted cocktails with a twist. The food is also delicious and approachable, with generous portions and many family favorites on offer.

I'm hoping to make it in 2025 (or the first few days of the new year) before the Christmas-themed parts close for the season on January 4th, 2026!

Draft Belmont Park - Daily Deals

You won't go hungry (or be thirsty) with the daily deals from Draft.

Mondays feature $5 Smash Burgers. Wednesdays are for wings with $.50 wing specials. You can bring your kids on Friday because they can eat free with one entrée purchase from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. And if you visit on a weekend, there will be bottomless brunch mimosas for $20 with an entrée purchase.

December Specials at Cannonball

If you like Asian flavors, sushi or noodle bowls, then you should check out Cannonball. They will be having some great specials for all of you sushi fans out there and their Udon veggie bowl is also delicious.

My tip here is to catch a spot on the rooftop for their happy hour from 2:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Thursday, so you can take in the amazing views while you take advantage of the deals.

What Other Seasonal Foods Will Be Available?

As you walk through the park, you'll see many holiday treats at some of the quick bite locations around the park. I hear seasonal treats include some phenomenal holiday funnel cakes, so bring your appetite!

Getting to Winter Wonder at Belmont Park

Whether you're driving or looking to take public transportation, getting to Belmont Park is easy.

Driving to the Park

Belmont Park is located on Mission Beach at 3146 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109.

If you're coming from the south, I would say to take West Mission Bay Drive. If you're coming in from the north, head south directly down Mission Boulevard.

How Much is Parking?

I have great news for you concerning parking. There are four public lots where you can park for FREE.

San Diego Rideshare Options

If you want a break from driving, I'd suggest taking a San Diego rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. I can tell you it's really convenient to get dropped off at the entrance and picked up when you want to leave. I'd highly recommend it!

Winter Wonder Planning Tips

To me, attending Winter Wonder is all about making holiday memories. Below are a couple more tips to keep in mind before you go!

Handicap Accessibility

Wheelchair-accessible entrances are located throughout the park. Service animals are also always allowed and welcomed.

What Should I Wear?

While San Diego winter weather is not known to be especially cold, it can get chilly at night. So I suggest that you bring a sweater or a light jacket.

You'll also want to also wear comfy shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking.
