San Diego Beer Week 2025: What You Need to Know

Getting a Beer at Ballest Point Brewing in Little ItalyInside Pizza Port in Solana Beach

San Diego Beer Week is back in 2025 with special events at local breweries like live music, signature eats, new beers, and much more!

As one of San Diego’s top events in November, I personally look forward to Beer Week each year and think it’s the perfect opportunity to support local breweries and restaurants while discovering new favorites and pairings.

What to Expect During the 10-Day Celebration in 2025

San Diego Beer Week is an annual 10-day series of events presented by the San Diego Brewers Guild featuring the finest brews, exciting tastings, lively music, food trucks and so much more across dozens of participating breweries, bars, and restaurants. It’s all about celebrating the people, retailers, and neighborhoods that make San Diego Beer so special.

You can expect one of a kind events, a Beer Festival, special beer releases, beer specials, and a good time had by all throughout the week.

When and Where is San Diego Beer Week 2025 Being Held?

San Diego Beer Week is set to take place at breweries all over San Diego with some exciting featured events like the Capital of Craft Beer Festival, Hike & A Pint and more which I’ll tell you all about below.

The 10-day celebration features San Diego’s top craft beer and breweries and will be held from Friday, November 7th until Sunday, November 16th, 2025. See the San Diego Brewers Guild official site to find a brewery and for the calendar of events.

Local Tips
Ditch the Car for San Diego Beer Week
Parking is a nightmare during Beer Week, especially in spots like North Park. Do as locals do: use the Trolley or a rideshare. It's the smartest way to stay safe and avoid the stress of finding a spot. Focus on enjoying the amazing local brews, not worrying about driving or circling for parking.

Admission Costs and Information

Many San Diego Beer Week events are free and open to the public, making it easy to explore the city’s vibrant craft beer scene without breaking the bank. All you’ll need to pay for is your beers!

That said, some of the bigger experiences, like the Capital of Craft Beer Festival, require a ticket.

San Diego Beer Week Ticketed Events

The big ticketed event to mention here is The Capital of Craft Beer Festival set for Saturday, November 8th, 2025. General Admission tickets are $50 and VIP Tickets are $65.

There’s also one of my favorite beer week events, the AleSmith Brewing’s Signature Speedway Grand Prix Event which offers flights of 4 to 12 beers with tickets costing between $23.18 and $57.33.

If you want to take part in the 17th Annual Beer Week Fling Tournament which includes lunch and a couple beers, entry is $80.

I’ll tell you about these events and many more below!

Of course, if you’re looking forward to the Capital of Craft IPA 2025 or more about brewery collabs - keep on reading!

Beer Week 2025 Featured Events

San Diego Beer Week 2025 is shaping up to celebrate its 17th year…in a big way!

With events, special releases and so much more scheduled for breweries across San Diego County, below are the 2025 highlights and events I’m personally looking forward to the most.

Todd Having a Beer at Princess Pub and Grille in Little Italy
Todd Having a Beer at Princess Pub and Grille in Little Italy

San Diego Countywide Kick-off Toast

  • Where: Brewers Guild Member Brewerys
  • When: Friday, November 7th, 2025 | 7:30pm

Much like how Octoberfest in Munich begins with the tapping of the first keg, San Diego Beer Week starts with a virtual countywide toast officially kicking-off 10 days of beer experiences!

Scheduled for Friday, November 7th, 2025 at 7:30pm, all you have to do is head to your favorite Brewers Guild member brewery, bar, or tasting room. And be sure to share photos using hashtags #SDBEER, #SDBEERWEEK and #SDBW which is a fun way to get the party started and connect with local craft brewery enthusiasts.

The Capital of Craft Beer Festival

  • Where: San Diego Harley Davidson Festival Grounds
  • When: Saturday, November 8th | 1:00pm – 4:30pm (VIP starts at 12:00pm)
  • Price: General Admission = $50 | $65 VIP Tickets

The Capital of Craft Beer Festival is surely one of the main events of Beer Week 2025, and one Go Visit San Diego’s founder Todd might be able to attend now that unfortunately many of the 2025 San Diego Fleet Week events have been canceled due to the federal government shutdown.

Depending on where you look, you’ll see that there will be 40, 50 or even as many as 80+ local beers to sample. If you’re able to go, you can expect unlimited 2oz craft beer pours in a commemorative cup.

My Favorite Beers at the Festival

In terms of the breweries, I’m looking forward to all of them! But if I had to suggest just a few, I’d say make sure not to miss the ones below!

  • Fall Brewing Company (from North Park)
  • Kilowatt Brewing (found in Kearny Mesa, Ocean Beach and Downtown Oceanside)
  • Abnormal Beer Co. (from Rancho Bernardo)
  • Burgeon Beer Company (from Carlsbad)
  • Belching Beaver Brewery (from North Park)

Food, Music and More!

In addition to the brews, Beer Week’s signature event will include live 80s music from Flash Pants followed by beats from DJ Twon Burgundy who will keep the good times rolling on the Main Stage. You can also expect food trucks, local vendors, and creative artisans.

In terms of the food trucks, I’m personally looking forward to Fully Belly BBQ but the Bread and Cheese eatery always offers great ‘beer food’ as well.

Capital of Craft Beer Festival Tips

A couple of quick things to know are that pets are not allowed, there is no seating (and you can’t bring your own chair), and they don’t allow any outside liquid containers (even for water including hydro flasks), but will have non-alcoholic drinks for sale.

The dress code is festival-ready comfy and remember this is a 21+ event only, meaning no kids or even infants will be admitted.

AleSmith Brewing Company’s 30th Anniversary Tiki Bash

  • Where: AleSmith Brewing Company
  • When: Saturday, November 8th | 2:00pm – 11:00pm
  • Price: Free Admission with Some Ticketed Components

AleSmith Brewing in Miramar brews some of my favorite beers in San Diego. Two of my favorites being the Speedway Stout and San Diego Pale Ale .394. Their selection of barrel-aged beer is quite impressive as well.

Come celebrate AleSmith Brewing Company’s 30th Anniversary at their Tiki Bash set for Saturday, November 8th from 2:00pm until 11:00pm. This lively event is family-friendly and open to all ages (and even pup-friendly!), offering great brews, food trucks, music, festivities and more!

Rom Rom Burgers, Zoe’s Place, and Kujo Eats are some of the food trucks that will be on hand, so you won’t have to worry about going hungry!

AleSmith Brewing’s Signature Speedway Grand Prix Event

  • Where: AleSmith Brewing Company
  • When: Thursday, November 13th at 5:00pm | Friday, November 14th, 2025 at 5:00pm
  • Price: Ranges from $23.18 for Lap #1 (4 tasters) to $57.33 for the Victory Lap (12 tasters)

AleSmith’s annual release of their limited edition Speedway Stouts is a treat for Beer Fest fans! I happen to also be a huge fan of stouts and creative combinations so for me, this is absolutely one of the highlights of San Diego Beer Week!

Widely considered one of the best imperial stouts in the world, you won’t want to miss this event being held on Thursday, November 13th and Friday, November 14th, 2025.

A Sneak Peek at This Year’s Offerings

2025 will feature 12 different versions of AleSmith’s signature coffee stout! That’s correct, you’ll have a lot of options and as a stout fan myself, that’s pretty exciting.

Lap 1:

  • Dutch Apple Pie Edition
  • Chocolate Pecan Pie Edition
  • Banana Cream Pie Edition
  • Blackberry Pie Edition

Lap 2:

  • Dubai Chocolate Edition
  • Blackberry Sage Edition
  • Café Brûlot Edition
  • Coconut Key Lime Pie Edition

Victory Lap:

  • Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout: Gansito Edition
  • Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout
  • Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout
  • Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout

Bonus Lap:

  • The High Club Edition

Beer Week Fling

  • Where: Morley Field Disc Golf Course |
  • When: Wednesday, November 12th | Registration starts at 8:00am, Tournament starts at 9:00am
  • Price: $80

Back for its 17th year, the Beer Week Fling is a fun field disc golf tournament, held rain or shine. Expect to be randomly assigned to a doubles pairing, hit the disc golf course, and have some fun!

Lunch, two beer tokens, and a t-shirt are included with the price of admission.

Battle of the Guilds Tap Takeover

  • Where: Tiny Giant Taproom (1985 National Ave. #1132, San Diego, CA 92113)
  • When: Thursday, November 13th | 6:00pm

I’ve really enjoyed the Battle of the Guilds Tap Takeover in past years.

Hosted by the San Diego Brewers Guild, I’ve always liked the variety of craft beers and various breweries represented at the event, offering me an opportunity to sample a lot of different styles of beers from across San Diego, California, and even Baja!

Hike and A Pint!

  • Where: Annie’s Canyon Trail (2550 Via Poco, Cardiff, CA 92007)
  • When: Saturday, November 15th | 10:00am

One of the NEW events I’m most excited about is the Hike & A Pint event with the SD Brewers Guild and many fellow beer lovers.

Hike & A Pint is a relaxed, all-levels morning hike through one of North County’s most scenic spots, followed by the best part, finishing with a well-earned pint at Culture Brewing in Solana Beach. The beers will start flowing at 11:30am.

I recommend coming prepared to socialize and have fun. Also, make sure to bring comfy shoes, water, and a post-trail thirst.

Guild North Park Cleanup

  • Where: Meet at Original 40
  • When: Sunday, November 16th | 11:00am - 2:00pm

I love the fact that San Diego Beer Week is about more than just great beer and great friends. It’s also about coming together for a little community service and there may be no better opportunity in 2025 than at the Guild North Park Cleanup.

On Sunday, November 16th from 11:00am until 2:00pm a trash cleanup will take place starting at Original 40, then head on to North Park Brewing Co. and finally wrap up at Barley & Sword, perhaps, just in time for a cold beer!

Special Collaborations and New Releases

Fans of Beer Week, or Brew Buffs if you will, live for the exciting collaborations and new beer releases, and who could blame them?

Every year, attendees get to take laps with a Signature Speedway Stout and taste the annual Capital of Craft IPA. There are also many special releases from breweries across San Diego county and beyond.

Unveiling Capital of Craft IPA 2025

Started in 2017, The Capital of Craft IPA collab is an annual event that brings several breweries together to create a unique IPA. It’s a celebration and testament to San Diego’s vibrant craft beer scene and the camaraderie therein.

The breweries come together to share recipes, ideas, and ingredients to create their IPA with a single purpose in mind…To create a special beer that embodies the spirit of San Diego Beer Week!

Introducing Capital of Craft IPA 2025: West Coast IPA

Described as a West Coast-style IPA, the 2025 Capital of Craft IPA will be released on Thursday, November 6th, 2025 at Mission Brewing, Kensington Taproom located at 4067 Adams Ave, San Diego, CA 92116.

The Flavor Profile

ABV: 7.2%? | HOPS: Waimea, Chinook & Riwaka

This year, expect stone and tropical fruit notes (think pineapple, perhaps passionfruit), backed by a bready malt backbone and a crisp, dry finish.

This IPA is described as a dryer interpretation of a West Coast IPA and a highly drinkable beer.

The Team Behind West Coast IPA

Every year, a select group of San Diego breweries come together to highlight the community’s comradery, innovation, and diversity. I’d say these folks are true icons of the San Diego spirit!

This year’s collaboration team includes:

  • Mission Brewing
  • Pure Project
  • Sunny Grove Brewing
  • South O Brewing Co.
  • Coronado Brewing Co.
  • Harland Brewing Co.
  • Tarantula Hill Brewing Co.

And I have great news for you, you’ll be able to find it both on draft and in cans at all Guild Member breweries!

How to Participate in Beer Week and Support Local Breweries

There’s so much going on during Beer Week - with individual breweries also doing their own events - that your best bet to plan your week is by going to the official SD Brewers Guild site.

Attending Events and Tastings

The color coded calendar under there ‘Explore > Find an Event’ tabs lets you easily view the upcoming events so you can decide which ones you want to attend.

If you plan on being a part of several of the events over the course of a day, we recommend either a San Diego ride-sharing service, public transportation, or choosing a designated driver.

Must-Visit Breweries and Neighborhoods

If you don’t know where to begin, I’d recommend you consider attending a tasting or beer tour.

Modern Times Beer, Ballast Point Brewing Company, and Green Flash Brewing Co. are known for their special releases during the week. Stone Brewing is the area’s largest brewery and never a bad choice for me.

In terms of a beer tour, I’d recommend the San Diego: North Park Beer-ucation Tour. I like this tour because it’s led by a knowledgeable beer enthusiast who will educate you on the craft beer making process, as well as the unique flavor combinations and ingredients used to make the beers. He’ll guide you through North Park, the brewery capital of San Diego, to three to four breweries providing recommendations along the way.

If you want to go out on your own, I’d recommend the breweries and beer culture in North Park, Miramar, Point Loma, the East Village and Downtown San Diego.

Supporting San Diego’s Craft Beer Scene

San Diego Beer Week 2025 will be a big win for everyone involved! Allow me to explain.

The events not only connects brewers with potential lifelong customers, they also allow the community to come together in celebration of something uniquely San Diego. Patrons get to interact with staff, ask questions, provide feedback, and build a connection. Brewers get to offer their carefully crafted brews, sell merchandise, and grow their revenue.

And thanks to the Guild North Park Cleanup in 2025, it will even leave the world a little cleaner than before!

Pro Tips

Having attended Beer Week in San Diego more times than I can count, I’ve learned a few things that will make your experience way more fun.

First-Timers: Pace yourself! Beer Week is a marathon, not a sprint. Start with a couple of breweries in one neighborhood instead of trying to hit the whole county in a day. And also make sure to enjoy some food from the food trucks and a few non-alcoholic varieties between samplings.

Connoisseurs: Anyone who visited Beer Week in 2024 knows you can’t miss the limited releases and collaborations. This is the week San Diego’s best breweries pull out all the stops. Bring a notebook or use your phone to jot down favorites, hops, and rare finds.

Foodies: Pair wisely. Food trucks are everywhere, so plan to try a new pairing at each stop. Think tacos with hoppy IPAs or chocolate with a rich stout. The food will slow your drinking pace just a bit (a good thing!) and unleash the subtle flavors in each brew.

Families: Yes, you can enjoy Beer Week without a pint in hand. Look for family-friendly events, brewery patios, and outdoor spaces. Let the kids sample from the food truck, bring your refillable water bottles, and make it a mini-adventure.

Getting to Beer Week Events & Parking

Getting around and parking in San Diego around brewery events can be challenging, especially in Downtown San Diego, where meter rates can spike near hotspots like Petco Park during major events.

We are talking about drinking beer here as well so I highly suggest taking a San Diego rideshare like Uber or Lyft. The San Diego Trolley, or other public transit options like one of the city’s electric shuttle programs (the FRED in Downtown is my favorite) instead of driving are smart ideas as well.

If you do plan to drive, make sure to arrive early, check for available lots, and download parking meter apps or have payment ready for higher-metered spots.

What’s the Best Way to Get the Latest Information About Beer Week 2025?

If you want to know the latest and greatest with the breweries participating in Beer Week 2025, I can attest to the fact most of the breweries are quite active on social media. So the best way to get the latest information about Beer Week 2025 is to follow them on social media, join their clubs, and sign up for their newsletters. With that you’ll never miss an event, festival, or chance to try a new beer.

Plus, you know how we feel about supporting local small businesses! And when you post, don’t forget to tag them with #SDBEER, #SDBEERWEEK, and #SDBW.

Though, personally, I like to think you’ll be having so much fun that you’ll forget to check your phone. You’ll be too busy enjoying all the “brew hahas.” I hope you enjoy it and hopefully I will see you there!
