Belmont in Bloom: A Celebration of Spring!

Huge Ice Cream at Belmont ParkBeach House Great Place to Eat or Grab a Drink with a Beach View at Belmont Park

Belmont in Bloom at Belmont Park always feels like one of the happiest times of the year to visit my favorite theme park on the beach!

After living in San Diego for decades, I've noticed how this annual event seems to bring a breath of fresh air to Mission Beach - colorful floral displays pop up everywhere, and there's an upbeat, creative vibe that feels very special.

It's the kind of local event that makes you want to slow down and really take it all in, whether you're wandering through one of their art installations, snapping photos of the blooms in one of their most Instagrammable spots, or just sitting with a coffee in the sunshine.

Can You Tell Me a Little About Belmont Park?

Belmont Park is San Diego's beloved and historic 100+ year old theme park featuring carnival style rides and games reminiscent of a bygone era. Located on the beach at 3146 Mission Blvd, the park makes many of our lists of the best things to do in San Diego as it's been part of the city much before any of us were here.

My daughter is a big fan of the iconic wooden roller coaster, the Giant Dipper, and I'd say I just love the nostalgia of the 7-acre park. To me, I can feel the history, almost like walking back in time. There's surely something cool about that feeling. Add in a fantastic selection of fair-style treats like ice cream and cotton candy and my family is always up for a visit!

And if you can believe it, it's just one of the seasonal events that Belmont Park hosts annually.

Belmont in Bloom is when the park truly comes alive with color - each visit during spring feels like discovering a new side to this classic San Diego spot.

What to Expect at the Spring Festival

Belmont Park always feels like a lively place to me, with lots of rides, games and attractions. Think early 1900's Coney Island style including rides like a carousel, bumper cars, and a miniature train for the younger kids. They also have a very cool Beach Blaster pendulum ride, an awesome arcade, and laser tag for the big kids. For me, mini golf and a cold drink is all that I need!

The park also offers seasonal events, none better than Belmont in Bloom, that really help set the mood. Let's have a look at what you can expect from their 2026 springtime celebration!

Live Music

The Belmont in Bloom event welcomes local talent every Saturday from 2:00pm – 5:00pm.

There are also concerts scattered throughout that you may want to see. Be sure to check the events calendar and know that you may need to buy separate tickets for some of them.

Kids Live Concert

If you have a teenager, the K-Pop Dance Party & Sing-A-Long during Belmont in Bloom needs to be on your radar. This is Belmont Park's first-ever Kids Live Concert, so you know it's going to be big!

Kids and adults will see K-Pop Stars performing popular songs they can sing along to. We're told that Rumi, Zoey, and Mira from the film's girl group, HUNTR/X will be there!

This not-to-miss event is set for Saturday, April 11th from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Fit Social. You will need to buy a special ticket for the event. General admission starts at $15, and meet-and-greets start at $30.

Special Attractions on the Weekends

Belmont in Bloom will take place daily between April 3 through May 31, but the Saturdays are when you'll really want to attend if you are looking for the full experience. Below are the extras you get if you visit on a Saturday in 2026.

  • Dancing Tulip Stilt Walkers – Saturdays from 3:00pm to 5:00 pm.
  • Caricature Artists – Saturdays from 1:00pm – 6:00pm.
  • Face Painting - Saturdays from 2:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Bubbles Galore – Saturdays from 2:00pm - 5:00pm
  • Balloon Artist making 'Every Moment Pop' - Saturdays from 2:00pm – 5:00pm

My family's favorite is surely the face painter! Every year on my daughter's birthday we attend one of San Diego's Día de los Muertos festivals in the fall where we all get our faces painted in the traditional way, which makes our face look like a skeleton!

It may sound strange but it makes that event incredibly festive so getting our faces painted this year at Belmont in Bloom is on our list of things to do!

Unique Food and Drinks

It wouldn't be a proper seasonal event without a nice selection of fun food and drink options!

Belmont Park always has interesting things to eat at the beachfront restaurants, cafe, and snack stands like corndogs, funnel cakes and cotton candy, but the park's spring festival takes this up a few notches.

The Bites at Belmont will include treats like Pink Circus Ice Cream, Watermelon Lime Dole Soft Serve, Nutella Funnel Cake, and charity cocktails!

More Things to Do During Belmont in Bloom

Springtime in San Diego is all about color and Belmont Park takes this to the next level during their springtime festival. Each year is a little different, but the mix of spring-themed attractions, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities always makes it easy to spend a few extra hours at the park.

I love how the event feels both relaxed and unexpected, with plenty of nooks for flowers, art, and pop-up surprises alongside the classic rides. But know that Belmont in Bloom is more than just a few decorations - it's a genuine reminder of how creative and community-driven the park can be!

A Flower Paradise

If you like beautiful flower arrangements then I think you'll really appreciate the colors during this 2 month event.

From reds to lavender to yellows and pinks, the entire park will be decorated with floral arrangements that are just incredibly beautiful.

Instagrammable Moments

If you like taking pictures, and possibly posting them online to share with your friends and family, then you won't want to miss this event. The park specifically designed spots throughout meant for the perfect photo opportunity.

And honestly, I think taking pictures in front of the Giant Dipper, one of the carnival style games or even the arcade is worth the shot year-round. So add in the flowers and you'll be sure to want to grab a few extra shots!

More Flowers!

If you're like me and my daughter and just really love flowers, I'd also suggest you consider a visit to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch during their spring bloom. While not part of Belmont Park, it's got to be the most colorful springtime event in San Diego.

The colorful Giant Tecolote Ranunculus will be in bloom plus you can also visit the Glass in Flight sculpture displays area and the magical experience at the Butterfly Encounter.

The event is going on now and will last until May 10th, 2026.

What are the Best Driving Directions?

If you're coming from the south, I would say to take West Mission Bay Drive. If you're coming in from the north, head south directly down Mission Boulevard.

Where Should I Park?

There are four public lots where you can park and they are all FREE!

Public Transportation Options

If you don't want to worry about driving and parking, you'll have a couple public transportation options that can get you to the park.

I suggest taking a San Diego rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. I can tell you it's really convenient to get dropped off at the entrance and picked up when you want to leave. There's nothing better!

Public transportation is also available. From Downtown San Diego that would include taking the San Diego Trolley to the Old Town Transit Center and then catching the MTS bus from there. You can expect that trip to take you around 45 minutes to an hour.

Is Belmont Park Handicap Accessible?

Yes, it is wheelchair accessible. There are accessible entrances, parking, and restrooms. Service animals are also allowed.

What Should I Wear?

San Diego has great weather year-round but the spring is one of my favorite seasons, and the perfect time for a visit during the Belmont in Bloom event!

San Diego nights during the Spring can get a little chilly. I would recommend dressing in layers. Also, be sure to wear comfortable shoes for all of the walking you're going to do.

Mission Beach is well located in San Diego, just south of the popular neighborhoods of Pacific Beach and La Jolla, minutes from the beautiful Mission Bay and not far from the San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Downtown San Diego.

You'll also be near SeaWorld San Diego, one of my favorite attractions in town. They have their SeaWorld Seven Seas Food Festival 2026 going on now until April 26th this year, plus they opened a fantastic exhibit last year worth checking out called Jewels of the Sea, a fascinating deep dive into jellyfish!

Where Can I Stay Near Belmont in Bloom?

While you'll have your choice of some of my favorite places to stay in San Diego like the Paradise Point Resort & Spa and Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, my choice here would be The Dana on Mission Bay!

The hotel offers classic rooms, some with marina views, and has two pools and a hot tub. Located one mile from Belmont Park, it'd be tough to stay any closer!
