When and Where is 2025 San Diego Comic-Con?

The 2025 San Diego Comic-Con Convention is being held Thursday, July 24th - July 27th, 2025, at the San Diego Convention Center.

There are panels, amazing guest appearances, and entertainment in and around the convention hall starting on Thursday and lasting through the weekend.

Local Tips
Escape the Crowds at Seaport Village
Feeling the July heat? Take a short walk north along the beautiful bay boardwalk to Seaport Village. It’s the perfect spot to find refreshing drinks, snacks, and a cool breeze. You can recharge away from the main convention chaos and even do some unique local shopping while you’re there.

What to Do if You Don’t Have Tickets

All the attendee badges for this year’s event are sold out, but there are still plenty of things you can do to soak in all of the fun at Comic-Con!

Cosplay in the Streets

Cosplay is huge at all Comic-Con conventions! Expect to see the top cosplay trends for 2025, everything from classic superheroes to popular gaming icons. I’ll personally be looking for Batman and Spiderman but some of my favorites from year’s past have also been the Transformers.

Other cosplay favorites will be from the world of anime like Lelouch from Code Geass, Thorfinn from the Vinland Saga, and of course Monkey D. Luffy, also known as ‘Straw Hat’, from the One Piece series.

Pop-up Sets & Free Experiences

Ticket and non-ticket holders will want to check out the FREE pop-ups that will be around the convention center. Last year, FX’s “The Bear” restaurant pop-up stole the show! Our founder Todd thinks these pop-up sets might just be the highlight of the entire weekend, and that if you have a badge or not!

The Lodge

For 2025, Paramount+ is bringing The Lodge to Happy Does at 340 5th Ave in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Here, you can have a totally immersive experience from NCIS: Tony & Ziva, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Landman Patch Cafe, The Dexter: Resurrection Vault, and my favorite, “Mission: Impossible”. The “Mission: Impossible” pop-up lets you recreate the scene where Ethan Hunt is lowered into a high-security vault. Tell me that’s not cool!

You’ll find these pop-ups open from 9:00am until 7:00pm Thursday, July 24th until Sunday, July 27th. While these are free, a reservation through their official site is strongly encouraged. If you can’t get a reservation, there will be stand-by lines.

Godzilla

Just announced, you’ll also find a Godzilla pop-up at the Super7 store in the Gaslamp Quarter at 701 Eight Ave., San Diego, CA 92101.

The storefront is planning on recreating the train attack scene complete with destroyed set pieces, actual movie props and exclusive merchandise. As a really cool bonus, Shin Godzilla director Shinji Higuchi will be on site for a guest appearance and signing for the first 50 people to arrive at 11am on Friday, July 25th!

You can stop by on Wednesday evening from 7:00pm until close, Friday - Saturday from 10:00am until 8:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am until 7:00pm.

Kids Zone

Kids can take a break with some fun interactive activities, books, toys, photo ops, and relaxing bean bags in special zones around the San Diego Convention Center. This can also be a great time out for the adults! You can also find a people watching spot and just enjoy the energy and cosplay!

While I personally think most of the activities are very family-friendly, know that many local businesses have giveaways and post about pop-up kid zones on social media.

Bonus Tip if You Don’t Have a Badge

A little tip from the Go Visit San Diego team…bring plenty of water because San Diego July heat and masked heroes don’t make the best combination!

If you need to find some shade and a snack, take the short walk along the San Diego Bay boardwalk to Seaport Village. It’s just north of the San Diego Convention Center and can surely offer refreshing drinks, snacks, a cool breeze and some local shopping while you’re at it!

Special Guests & Surprise Appearances

For the first time at Comic-Con, Star Wars creator George Lucas will be making an appearance!

He will participate in a panel discussion on Sunday, July 27th. He will talk about the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art that is slated to open next year.

Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro will join him, and Queen Latifah will be the moderator. If I were going, this would be on my list!

More Interesting Panel Discussions & Streaming Options

Other highly anticipated panel discussion participants include comedy legends Matt Stone and Trey Parker from “South Park” fame and Jared Leto from “Tron: Ares”. Check the official Comic Con site for a complete list of panelists.

If you can’t be there in person, you may be able to see some panels live-streamed on platforms like Popverse. There are also some post-convention releases that you can look for. Sometimes these are on YouTube, others may be exclusive to subscribers on other platforms.

Don’t forget to keep up with social media for the latest announcements. Look for the hashtags #SDCC, #SDCC2025, and #SDCC25.

Exhibition Hall & Outdoor Pop-Up Shops

Badge-holders can access the Exhibition Hall, which is one of the highlights of the convention. Look for booths from Marvel Studios, LEGO, Disney, and more!

Our team at Go Visit San Diego highly recommends planning for a good amount of time here because you’ll also find exclusive merchandise, rare books, and lots of incredible comics!

Getting There and Staying Nearby

You’ll want to map out how you’ll get there in advance as I promise you the crowds will be huge. It’s also a great idea to grab a place to stay nearby the San Diego Convention Center as that will be a game changer for you and your party.

Take the Trolley & Transit Hacks

  • I highly suggest that you leave the car behind and take the Trolley since the MTS Trolley stops across from Hall A (Convention Center Station at Harbor Drive and First Ave.) and near Hall D (Gaslamp Station at Harbor Drive and Fifth Ave.).
  • Ride your bike or scooter. Check the Comic Con site for details on parking.
  • If you drive and need ADA parking, the Convention Center and Hilton San Diego Bayfront are your best bets. Get there early because they are first-come, first-served.
  • Take a San Diego rideshare like Uber or Lyft to get close, but expect street closures around the Convention Center, so be prepared to walk at least a few blocks.

Our Team’s Last-Minute Hotel Suggestions

Some hotels around the Convention Center may have last-minute openings if you’re looking for a convenient place to stay.

Our team at Go Visit San Diego knows the area quite well and we’d first suggest the Marriott Marquis San Diego, if you can find availability. But, if you can’t find space there, we also love the AC Hotel by Marriott San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter, Hotel Z, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, and the Ramada by Wyndham San Diego Gaslamp Convention Center.
