SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration 2025: Unwrap the Holiday Magic!

Erika is Having Fun at Seaworld Christmas CelebrationSnowmen at Seaworld Christmas Celebration

Once again, the festive Christmas celebrations have returned to SeaWorld San Diego in Mission Bay Park for the 2025 holiday season!

What really gets me during the holidays is how SeaWorld transforms the entire place. They go all-in on the decorations — lights everywhere, holiday music floating through the walkways, the whole park taking on this warm, festive energy.

It just feels like the kind of Christmas celebration San Diego does best: fun, relaxed, and completely family-friendly!

What is SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration

SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration is California's premiere holiday festival featuring an assortment of live shows, holiday music, character meet-and-greets, twinkling lights, festive food and drink, a 30-foot tall Christmas tree, Santa, and so much more!

The park gets totally transformed into a winter wonderland filled with holiday-themed things to see and do in SeaWorld's Christmas Market and throughout the park. It really is one of my favorite San Diego Christmas events of the year!

My personal highlights are the Christmas lights, live reindeer, and general festive cheer that takes over the whole park. I'm also not against treating myself to the seasonal food and drinks. And I know that if you have kids, the holiday character meet-and-greets might be something that they will really enjoy as well.

An Enchanting Holiday Event with Something (New) for Everyone!

This year, not only do they have several brand-new shows and attractions, SeaWorld San Diego has also added new treats - along with their returning favorites - to their holiday-themed dining.

I'd say that from picture-perfect holiday moments with your family to the hot cocoa bar and the chance to dine with Orcas and Santa Claus - no one does Christmas quite like SeaWorld!

When is SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration?

SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration started on Friday, November 14th, 2025 and will run through Sunday, January 4th, 2026.

The park opens daily at 10:00am. Closing times vary by day, so I would check the calendar of park hours for specific times. It's good to know that the park will be open from 10:00am to 9:00pm on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

On January 4th - the last day of SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration 2024 - the park is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm.

Local Tips
Book Parking Online to Save Time & Money
Locals know to purchase parking passes online before arriving at SeaWorld. Not only can you save a few dollars, but you'll skip the ticket booth lines and head straight into the park. During the busy holiday season, this simple step can save you 15-20 minutes of waiting!

Ticket Information: Affordable Holiday Fun!

I've really come to appreciate SeaWorld San Diego lately. The park seems to have found a sweet spot where there's plenty to see and do, but without the overwhelming crowds you get at Disney, which I can confirm is even more true during their Christmas Celebration!

And honestly, the price difference is no joke! It's a far more affordable day out for families, couples, or anyone who just wants to enjoy the season without stressing over ticket costs.

How Much Does it Cost to Go to SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration?

Some parks require special tickets for their seasonal events. Luckily, SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration is included at no additional cost with standard park admission in 2025.

With that in mind, your best bet to make sure you get the cheapest admission price is to get a Go City San Diego pass. The pass bundles admission together to San Diego's most popular attractions like the San Diego Zoo for their Jungle Bells holiday event, the more than a dozen family-friendly museums in Balboa Park, and for one of my family's favorite attractions in San Diego, the Birch Aquarium at Scripps…plus a bunch more!

You can use the discount code GVSD5OFF for a little holiday gift from our family to yours as well!

While the Go City San Diego pass is one of my insider tips for visitors, the park also sells single day, two day, and 2026 Fun Cards that will get you in the park from now until the end of 2026! I've seen prices during the park's Holiday Sale starting at $55 for a single day ticket with the Fun Card going for $99.99.

Soak in the Dazzling Shows and Magical Experiences for 2025

SeaWorld San Diego's mission to create an unforgettable Christmas and holiday season continues in 2025. This year should be bigger than ever with some new additions I can't wait to see, plus some old favorites I'm excited to enjoy once again!

All-New Shows and Parades

Let's go over some of the new shows and events set for the Christmas Celebration this holiday season.

Clyde & Seamore's Christmas Special

You can't go to SeaWorld without checking out the sea lions! I personally can't wait for this one.

Clyde & Seamore, the Christmas themed sea lion and hilarious otter with their trainers, have a fun Christmas-themed show that is bound to be hilarious!

Toymaker Trouble with Mrs. Claus and the Elves

What type of trouble could be lurking at the North Pole? I'll give you a hint…someone just doesn't have the Christmas Spirit. Good thing Mrs. Claus is there to save the day.

This show should be a big hit reminding us all what makes Christmas truly special.

Jingle Squad

It can't be the holidays without music! The Jingle Squad trio promises to bring joyful holiday tunes to the Holiday Plaza.

What's your favorite holiday song? Personally, I'm a Jingle Bells fan!

Returning Favorites You Won't Want to Miss

Of course, what's a Christmas celebration at SeaWorld without seeing your holiday favorites return in 2025? Below are some I'm really looking forward to again this year.

Snowfall Throughout the Park

If you're dreaming of strolling along a winter wonderland, you can once again experience just that with Snowfall Throughout the Park. While San Diego's weather will likely be mild and sunny, a little Christmas magic will have it lightly snowing on you in 2025.

Make your way toward the SkyTower Lawn and Wild Arctic to watch the snow as it gently falls to the ground.

A Stocking Full of Soul

A Stocking Full of Soul is all about bringing holiday classics back.

These soulful renditions will feature appearances by popular characters and callbacks to previous holiday attractions. It's a festive, uplifting show that's perfect for the whole family.

The show will be held daily at the Nautilus Amphitheater.

Happy Harbor Holiday

If you're looking for a celebration of Christmas joy and friendship, then the Happy Harbor Holiday is for you! The show will combine these themes with holiday traditions and beloved characters, including the return of Sir Winston the Walrus.

Taking place at the Mission Bay Theater, I think this show is perfect for getting into the holiday spirit with your younger kids.

Mrs. Claus Christmas Parade

Mrs. Claus and Santa's elves are all set for an exciting Christmas parade in 2025.

With decorated floats, jolly characters, and festive holiday music, Mrs. Claus Christmas Parade promises to be a magical holiday experience for guests of all ages.

Donner and Blitzen's Lazer Light Show

Donner and Blitzen return for nightly laser light shows at the front of the park that are sure to delight you and your family.

You can look up in wonder at the canopy filled with sparkling lights, lasers, and color as the beams dance along to some of your favorite holiday songs.

Take Pictures with Santa & Rudolph

A photo package with Santa will be available for purchase with digital and printed photo options.

And after your photo with Santa Claus, stop by the Holly Jolly Marketplace for your photo with Rudolph at Rudolph's Christmastown! Prices vary depending on the photo package you choose.

Santas Reindeer Exhibit at Seaworld Christmas Celebration

Santa's Reindeer are in Town!

That's right, Santa's reindeer have flown from the North Pole as a special treat for guests!

You and your family can see live reindeer up close near the Rentals area, fresh from the journey, ready to say hi. I think this experience could be perfect for families with younger kids.

Snowflake Seeker's: A Christmas Quest!

If your kids like a good scavenger hunt as much as mine do then you won't want to miss this merry quest.

You can purchase a Scavenger Hunt Map at The Christmas Shoppe and start looking for colorful winter snowflakes. When you complete the map, you can bring it back to The Christmas Shoppe for a holiday prize!

Festive Decor

The park will be filled with holiday lights, magic, and festive spirit sure to dazzle us all.

From the 30-foot Christmas tree to the Christmas Wish Fireworks Show, and so much more, SeaWorld's grounds will feel like a winter wonderland during the holiday season.

Holiday Lights & Magic

Even if you do nothing more than stroll across the park, you'll get to enjoy the decor and marvel at palm trees lit like candy canes, the 320-foot Skytower Tree of Lights, and San Diego's tallest Christmas tree. And I can say that there is nothing wrong with this approach!

SeaWorld's 30-foot Christmas tree will be adorned with twinkling lights that dance to holiday tunes in a dazzling display.

The tree lighting ceremony is usually held at 5:00pm daily, but it can change as the sun sets earlier in the season. Check the official theme park website or park times just ahead of your visit for up-to-date information.

SeaWorld Fireworks on Mission Bay
SeaWorld Fireworks on Mission Bay

Christmas Wish Fireworks Show

The skies above SeaWorld will come alive with an amazing pyrotechnics show that I'm hoping to catch this year. The holiday fireworks show will only take place twice this season - on December 13th and New Year's Eve.

So, if this is on your list, you'll want to visit on one of those days.

Seasonal Entrees, Desserts & Hot Chocolate!

If seasonal flavors and holiday treats are your style, then you're going to love what SeaWorld San Diego has to offer during the Christmas Celebration in 2025!

One of my favorites, the Churro Bar located near Sky Tower Lawn, has new and returning menu items. My favorite from 2024 was the Classic Hot Chocolate and in 2025 I'm looking forward to trying the Gingerbread Churro!

There will also be an assortment of grilled cheese/soup combos located in Wild Arctic Holiday Square and a turkey pot pie located at Festive Flavors near Underwater Cantina that has my mouth watering.

Of course, the Hot Chocolate Bar may just be the star of the show! I can say that from the Classic Hot Chocolate to the Peppermint Hot Chocolate and the Baileys Bliss Bite, it'll be hard to pick just one!

Holiday Cocktails & Craft Beer

The only thing I can think that can give the cocoa bar a run for its money is the Michelada Bar and Beer Trailer.

Adults can raise a glass of Merry and Bright Paloma, Mistletoe Margarita, or Holiday Mojito in celebration of the holiday season. There are also new cocktails and mocktails at the Twinkle Tree Café.

Dining Packages

If you'd like a unique holiday culinary experience, I'd recommend the Dine With Orcas & Santa package which starts at $54.99 for adults and $34.99 for kids. Taking place until December 23rd, you'll have a poolside chef make your meal next to SeaWorld's world-famous Orca Whales. And the best part for families is that Santa will stop by to wish you a Merry Christmas!

If your goal is to eat and drink your way around the park, the Festive Food and Seasonal Sips Sampling Lanyard is another great investment.

The lanyards, which will cost you $45 for 5 samples and $75 for 10 samples, will entitle you to any combination of food, drink, or dessert samples. The sampling lanyards are available daily from now until January 4th, 2026.

Shopping Time!

SeaWorld's Christmas Market will once again offer countless holiday treats, Christmas Edition souvenirs, and family gift-friendly ideas.

And be sure to make a little time to stop by the Coca-Cola Market for a photo op, sparkling lights, music, and holiday themed treats and drinks.

The Holly Jolly Marketplace and Christmas Shoppe are the perfect places to find any last-minute gifts. These seasonal boutiques will offer exclusive merchandise, everything from ornaments and keepsakes to décor and apparel.

Does SeaWorld Celebrate Hanukkah & Kwanzaa?

Yes, while not officially part of SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration 2025, the park wants to make sure that everyone feels included, educating us all about other cultures and traditions.

A Hanukkah Celebration

Starting on Sunday, December 14th and lasting until Monday, December 22nd, 2025, guests can celebrate Hanukkah at SeaWorld San Diego with the lighting of the menorah, Hanukkah music, and picture opportunities with the holiday decor.

There'll be plenty of holiday cheer, the traditional blue colored sparkling lights, and more in this lovely Hanukkah celebration.

Kwanzaa Festivities

A tribute to African heritage and culture, the park will celebrate Kwanzaa from Friday, December 26th, 2025 until Thursday, January 1st, 2026.

Guests will get to see the illumination of the kinara, as well as experience the spirit of unity and reflection in this one-of-a-kind festive atmosphere.

Getting to the Festivities

Uber and Lyft Pickup at Seaworld San Diego
Uber and Lyft Pickup at Seaworld San Diego

SeaWorld San Diego is located in Mission Bay Park, which is quite easy to get to by car. Rideshare and public transportation are also good options.

Driving & Parking

I always tell my friends and family to take Interstate 5 to get to SeaWorld San Diego. Take the West Mission Bay Drive exit from I-5, and you'll see signs that will direct you to the parking lot. The park's address is '500 Sea World Drive, San Diego, CA 92109'.

If you're headed in from Mission Beach near the Belmont Park historic amusement park, you'll want to take W. Mission Bay Dr. And if you're coming in from Pacific Beach like me, you'll want to take Ingraham St, across the bridges and Vacation Isle.

In terms of parking, I suggest that you buy your parking online before you visit. General parking during SeaWorld San Diego's Christmas Celebration dates runs between $35 and $40 for cars and motorcycles. They also offer an 'Up-Close' parking option that costs between $55 - $70 and a 'VIP' parking option that costs between $70 and $75.General parking is free for Annual Pass Members.

Public Transportation

Public transportation is always a fantastic option if you don't want to worry about parking. Here are some options:

To take the San Diego Trolley from Downtown San Diego, you'll be looking for the blue or green lines to the Old Town Station. From there you'll likely need to take the MTS Bus 8 or 9, or you could also just call a quick rideshare.

If you're coming from North County in the Oceanside area taking the COASTER or Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner trains, you'll want to get off at the Old Town Transit Center stop and catch a quick MTS bus or rideshare from there.

Hotel Shuttle Service

I know that many hotels offer shuttle service to and from the park, often for FREE, so be on the lookout for that before you book. I really enjoy the Bahia Resort Hotel, Wyndham San Diego Bayside, Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton SeaWorld San Diego, and Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa which all offer this service.

You could also stay at two of my personal favorite hotels near SeaWorld San Diego, The Dana on Mission Bay or Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina and walk to the park in about 25 or 30 minutes.

Is SeaWorld Handicap Accessible?

As someone that's been to SeaWorld San Diego many times, I can say that it is very handicap accessible offering paved paths throughout the park as well as wheelchair and electronic scooter with canopy rentals.

Know Before You Go

Todd and Erika Posing at Seaworld Christmas Celebration
Todd and Erika Posing at Seaworld Christmas Celebration

Visiting SeaWorld San Diego during their Christmas Celebration is all about creating unforgettable memories with your family and friends.

I want to make sure you have the best time possible in 2025, so be sure to check out these tips and things I think you should know before you go!

What Should I Wear?

If you're planning on spending a good portion of the day and (into the night) at the park, I suggest that you dress in layers. It's a good idea to bring a sweatshirt or sweater as the temperatures in San Diego in December will surely drop a bit.

Also, be sure to wear comfortable shoes for all the walking you'll do!

Last-Minute Tips

  • SeaWorld San Diego is a cashless venue. There are cash-to-card kiosks for easy conversion.
  • I suggest that you take a few minutes to look at the parks map in advance of your visit, including the special shows and Christmas Celebration activities, so you can see and do everything on your list.
  • If the Christmas Wish Fireworks Show is something you'd really like to see in 2025, be sure to visit on Saturday, December 13th or New Year's Eve on Wednesday, December 31st, so you're not disappointed!

Other San Diego Holiday Events

San Diego's holiday events are absolutely on point in 2025 with some new ones and many that are annual classics.

If I could suggest a few to you in addition to of course the Christmas Celebration at SeaWorld San Diego, I would say to check out Jungle Bells at the San Diego Zoo 2025, Wild Holidays at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Balboa Park December Nights, and the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights.

Is This the Perfect Holiday Event in San Diego in 2025?

For me, SeaWorld hits the perfect balance during the holidays - festive, beautiful, and in my humble opinion, much less hectic than Disney. It's affordable, fun, and one of my favorite places to enjoy the season in San Diego.

As a longtime local who is raising a family just up the way from the park, I think I'll leave you with the fact that this event is an opportunity to create lasting memories and experience a holiday event unlike any other. After all, SeaWorld said it best. "Where else can you say 'Merry Christmas' to a sea otter or penguin?"
