Polichinelles in the Nutcracker Ballet
While each performance is different, there are some common things you'll want to keep in mind before attending any event in San Diego County. Here are some things I recommend you know before you go.
Buy Tickets in Advance
I don't know about you, but I always like to buy tickets in advance to avoid showing up for a sold-out show. Tickets can usually be purchased online or at the venue's box office.
Pair Your Holiday Show with an Overnight Stay & More
If you're coming in from out of town or want to turn your holidays into a staycation, you'll want a nice hotel. While the venues are all over town in places like Balboa Park, Downtown San Diego and Escondido, if you're going to the Lamb's Players Theatre in Coronado, I'd recommend the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. It's one of my family's top choices when we want to spoil ourselves.
We love the ocean views, amenities, spa treatments, and private marina. But if you want a hotel suggestion closer to one of the other San Diego theaters, we welcome you to explore more hotel recommendations on the Go Visit San Diego website. You're bound to find one you love.
And one more holiday tip, consider purchasing the Go City San Diego pass for discounted admission to SeaWorld San Diego, the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND California, and many more local attractions to visit Santa and check out each parks holiday events like Jungle Bells at the San Diego Zoo and the SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration.
Scope Out Parking in Advance
I hate trying to find parking before a show, especially in busy parts of San Diego, because I get nervous that I'll miss the performance.
I suggest that you try to figure out where you are going to park before you get there, whether that means determining the best places for public parking, finding the closest lots, or even purchasing a spot in advance.
You can also always take public transportation and skip the parking all together!
Don't Underestimate the Weather
If this is your first time in San Diego, don't assume it's going to be hot. We get our seasons, just like any other part of the country. While it won't be freezing, it can get chilly in the evenings and so I recommend layering up with a lightweight jacket, hoodie, or sweater.
