We’ve also got a couple bonus ideas that we discussed, but that just missed our best of the best Father’s Day ideas. We also know that sometimes you may want to stay over near attractions or events you’re planning, especially if you’re making a day of it or have an early morning start.
You’ll want to be prepared for your adventure with these tips to make sure Father’s Day 2025 is a hit!

Perfect Wave Not Being Surfed in North Pb
How Can I Plan a True Father's Day Adventure in San Diego?
What a great question! I love a little adventure and if your Dad does too, there are some really good options!
My family knows me very well and always seems to pick out the perfect activities that allow us to spend time together. My wife loved our tasty Mother’s Day brunch for example and so we can take that family adventure every year and she’ll be very happy.
For Father’s Day, I enjoy being outside. Luckily the weather in San Diego with warm temperatures, long days and sunny skies in June is perfect for an outdoor family adventure. My top choices might be for us to go hiking, biking or even surfing at one of the top surf spots in San Diego.
Another awesome idea could be to sneak in some fun at one of the summer concerts & outdoor music festivals in San Diego. Check out the lineup to see if there is something your Dad would enjoy!

Bonus Ideas for Father’s Day
Below are some attractions and activities that while they didn’t officially make our 2025 list, would still be great places to visit for Father’s Day.
The San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park is the #1 attraction in San Diego so you couldn’t go wrong with a day there with your Dad. LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad and Sesame Place in Chula Vista are best for young families.
Parks and attractions like these are great because they offer a little something for everyone.
Stay at LEGOLAND California
If you decide to go to LEGOLAND California, you can also stay there. The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is my favorite.
The rooms are amazing! You can choose from three different themed rooms; Knights & Dragons Themed; Magic Wizard Themed; and Royal Princess Themed. There is also an in-room treasure hunt. When my family went, we stayed in a medieval times-based room. I highly recommend it!
There is also the LEGOLAND California Resort. The lobby is the best because there are stations where kids can build their own Legos. Adults can get in on the fun too!
