The Details: Things You Won't Want to Miss

From holiday lights, decorations, and really cool vendors to seasonal food, drinks, live music and entertainment, here are the things you won't want to miss!

Visit the International Cottages

Don't miss possibly my personal highlight from last year, the International Cottages!

There are scheduled to be 33 different houses in 2025, each representing a different ethnic or cultural group. During December Nights, they each serve authentic food and beverages from their home country. I personally hear that the German food is out of this world tasty!

You'll find the cottages just across Pan American East Road from the Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

Check Out the Decorated Trees, Rides, Shows & More!

You'll want to make a little time to visit the Festival of Trees, listen to the live musicians, and watch the dancers and other entertainment on stages spread around the park.

Also, don't miss the Ferris wheel which will be set up in the Pan American Plaza parking lot, right in front of the San Diego Air and Space Museum.

Drink Around the World

My last can't miss suggestion on my highlight list is one of my absolute favorite parts of the holiday event!

Be sure to check out the International Spirit Garden's Drink Around the World area where you will be able to taste beers and drinks from, well, around the world! Just be sure to stay in this spot with your drinks because alcoholic beverages are only allowed in designated areas.

The Visitor Info You'll Need: Getting There & Parking

Birdrock Coffee Vendor at December Nights

Whether you drive in or use San Diego's public transportation, be prepared for the crowds! But trust me, it will all be worth it!

Where is the Best Place to Park?

I'll be honest and say that parking for December Nights can be quite challenging. There are a few free spots in the lots at the San Diego Zoo and City College. All other lots are paid parking ranging from $25-45. You can check out a complete parking list on the event page.

My local tip – park a bit further out and walk in. I always take this approach with my family as it gives us the chance to take in the lights and music from afar before we're right in the middle of the action!

Is There Handicapped Accessible Parking Nearby?

If you need a handicapped parking spot, know that they will be available spots in paid lots at the Fleet Science Center and Natural History Museum.

My Public Transportation Suggestions

If you don't want to worry about parking, you can take the FRED Shuttle from Downtown San Diego or the MTS Bus which has many stops along Park Boulevard.

The San Diego Trolley is another option the most savvy locals know to take. Just get off at the City College transit hub and you'll be less than a mile away.

And one last smart option for you, don't forget about considering a San Diego rideshare which can pick you up or drop you off right near the action!
