What are the Top Restaurants Participating in 2025?

With so many fantastic restaurants with such talented chefs taking part in this year’s event, it’s tough to say which ones are the best or top choices.

I can say from personal experience (or what I’ve heard from my friends and family) that many of the restaurants that are part of the event are the best in San Diego!

Restaurants taking part in 2025 include beloved local favorites like Oceana Coastal Kitchen and Balsamico Italian Kitchen, which the Go Visit San Diego team loves!

Below are a few more premiere San Diego restaurants you’ll find as part of the 2025 event.

A complete participating restaurant list can be found on the event’s official website.

What Types of Food Can I Expect?

Options from these diverse menus include upscale dining like steak and sushi, vegetarian meals, and of course, fresh-caught seafood. Alongside American and Californian staples, you’ll find restaurants serving up cuisine from cultures all around the world, including Mexican, Greek, French, Italian, Asian, and Mediterranean dishes.

Will There Be a Prix Fixe Menu During Restaurant Week?

Yes, many of the restaurants will have special chef created, prix fixe, multi-course set menus showcasing seasonal ingredients, incredible flavors, and the best the restaurant has to offer.

It’s also true that most of the restaurants will offer their regular menu if you’d rather not take part in the prix fixe option.

Choosing your Favorite Neighborhood for San Diego Restaurant Week

Participating restaurants are located in 46 different San Diego neighborhoods in 2025, from all the way up in Oceanside to as far south as Imperial Beach.

Many of these neighborhoods are known for their unique culinary influences, like the traditional Italian fare of Little Italy and the seafood served in beachside towns like La Jolla and Del Mar.

Neighborhoods like Old Town San Diego are known for their authentic Mexican restaurants, while the Gaslamp Quarter’s Gaslamp Quarter Food & Drink Walking Tour combines sightseeing with some of the best restaurants around.

My Favorite Neighborhood for Exploring Restaurant Week 2025

It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite neighborhood when it comes to restaurants in San Diego.

Our founder Todd loves the restaurants in Little Italy, and I get it! You can’t go wrong with Allegro, Vincenzo Cucina, and Lounge and Brisa.

Looking over the list of participating restaurants this year, I personally would have to recommend the ones in the Gaslamp Quarter. There must be 15 or 20 restaurants all between Fourth Ave and Seventh Ave. with standouts like II Sogno Italiano, Witherby, and Kaluu all making my list of restaurants I’m excited to try!

Stay Near Your Favorite Restaurant

Many of the best restaurants participating in San Diego Restaurant Week are clustered in and around Downtown San Diego. If you’d like to spend the weekend or a couple days in the area so you can try a few restaurants and explore some of the best things to do in San Diego while you’re at it, the Gaslamp Quarter is a great place to stay.

I suggest checking out the Pendry San Diego, a 5-star, luxury experience with refined rooms and suites, a rooftop pool, and six bars and restaurants.

If you’d like more options, check out our article detailing the best hotels in Downtown San Diego.

Getting to Your Favorite Restaurant

Since the restaurants participating in the event are scattered all around San Diego, literally from North County and Oceanside near Camp Pendleton to Chula Vista and the Mexican border, there are a number of different ways you can get to your favorite restaurant.

Usually we focus on how to get to a single location but since we’re spread out with Restaurant Week, I want to share with you the best ways to get around all over San Diego.

Driving and Parking

Driving is always an option whether you’re a local with a car or you have a rental car, but we all know parking can be challenging, especially in Downtown San Diego.

There’s a good chance you could have to pay to park whether that be for street parking or in a parking lot. It’s also true that many of the 100+ restaurants have valet options (for a fee) or dedicated parking that is free of charge.

San Diego Coaster Train

San Diego Coaster

San Diego Coaster service runs along the coast from Oceanside to Sante Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego. There is a convenient stop in Encinitas, plus stops in Carlsbad Village, Solana Beach, and Old Town San Diego.

I think the Coaster is a good option if you’re coming from the coast in North County or perhaps if your restaurant of choice is near the beach.

San Diego Trolley

The San Diego Trolley is an easy way to get to Downtown San Diego without driving, and honestly my personal choice to get to the Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, the San Diego Convention Center, my favorite restaurants in Little Italy, and Seaport Village.

Parking is free at most of the stops outside of Downtown and then it’s an easy ride right to your final destination. I think if your Restaurant Week choice is Downtown, the San Diego Trolley would be an excellent transportation option!

  • Chula Vista Electric Shuttle - Chula Vista Community Shuttle
  • National City Electric Shuttle - FRANC

Insider Tips for San Diego Restaurant Week 2025

Delicious Chicken Sandwich at the Crack Shack
Delicious Chicken Sandwich at the Crack Shack

Our team at Go Visit San Diego loves to try new restaurants, new menu items, and to get a great deal. We also just generally just love to eat which makes restaurant week a huge event for us.

With that in mind, we have some things we think you should know that we’ve picked up over the many years we’ve been enjoying San Diego’s Restaurant Week.

Is Restaurant Week Only For Dinner?

No, there are participating restaurants that offer lunch, brunch, as well as dinner. Some also offer ‘drinks as a course’ if you’re not quite ready for a meal.

Is Everything Dine In or Can I Do Take Out?

If you’d rather take out rather than dine in, contact the specific restaurant to see if they offer that option. Most restaurants will offer a prix fixe menu as well as their normal menu, so it’s likely if they normally offer take out, they will likely set you up to do the same during restaurant week as well.

What are the Special Menu Options?

You can visit each restaurant’s menu online before you go so that you can choose the type of food you’re craving.

Many restaurants will offer a special prix fixe menu as well as their regular menu for Restaurant Week. I suggest that you look the menus up online before you go so you can make the best choice for you and your party.
