I think that the live performances, tasty seasonal food and drinks, and exclusive merchandise, for me the less scary stuff, are also real highlights of the event.

Calico Town at Knotts Berry Farm
Entertainment for Every Fear Level
Not every Scary Farm area is filled with jump scares. Areas like Camp Snoopy are transformed into more whimsical Halloween spaces, still themed, still festive, but without the fear.
Puppet shows, glow-in-the-dark face painting, and less scary characters keep everyone entertained.
Fiesta Village offers delicious Halloween foods and glow-in-the-dark treats. It sets the tone for a festive and fun experience.

Eight Fingers Nine the Boogeyman Maze at Knotts Scary Farm
Featured Entertainment: What Is The Hanging at Knott’s Scary Farm?
Another one of my family’s favorite shows is The Hanging. Live at the Wagon Camp, the outrageous spectacle is equal parts comedy, chaos, and cultural roast. This annual show skewers pop culture, politics, and whatever else made headlines that year.
This year, it’s up to the Lawman and the Hangman to battle the evildoers in a bloodfest featuring villains from the past year. The Hanging promises fresh special effects and a brand-new storyline that parodies AI, summer blockbusters, and reality TV.
Think stunt-heavy fights, fire effects, and satirical punchlines. It’s bold, over-the-top, and due to its very adult themes is more appropriate for slightly older audiences.
More Incredible Live Entertainment
Aside from The Hanging, there are a couple more standout performances I’d highly recommend. Conjurers: Dark Magic at the Bird Cage Theater is a rotating magic act with shocking twists and skilled illusionists.
Then there’s Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque with fire eaters, sideshow acts, and a pulsing soundtrack. This show is fun for me as I find it kind of like a really dark Cirque du Soleil with gravity-defying stunts and death-defying carnival acts.
The street actors are also a lot of fun which include wandering monsters who fully stay in character. I love it when they follow my kids across zones.
Frights and Feasts: Food & Drink Options
I always go hungry and plan on visiting the themed booths, bakeries, coffee shops or even a restaurant during my visit. Some of my favorite treats include glowing churros, “blood” mac and cheese, and pumpkin spice funnel cakes.
For another sweet treat suggestion, visit Chow House Ice Cream for their Mesmer’s Black Cherry Cookiewich. It’s a cookie sandwich with ice cream and cherry filling. Or stop in to the Ghost Town Bakery for a Halloween Cake Bar, Witches Cupcake or maybe my personal favorite, the Queen of the Undead mini cake which includes raspberry jam, chocolate mousse, and orange buttercream icing. It’s totally delicious!
Gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan visitors can find clearly marked treats to enjoy.
There are also plenty of bubbling brews, cold brew coffee twists, and souvenir mugs with refill perks. Our adult crew indulges in alcoholic beverages in select areas. IDs are a must.
Limited-time Only: 2025 Exclusive Merchandise
There’s some pretty awesome merchandise available online like the Knott’s Scary Farm 2025 t-shirt available from Adult S to 5XL, the all new for 2025 haunted lantern that interacts with some shows, mazes and scare zones, and the No-Boo Necklace which will give you scare immunity in scare zones.
But for me the real highlight is the Legacy Haunt Store and Museum which focuses on Knott’s Scary Farm’s more than 50 years of history. It’s a unique retail experience where I think you’ll find the real specialty merchandise!
Also, I always recommend having a look in the stores yourself to see what else you can find. Ask the staff what’s special for 2025 and they’ve always been super helpful for me.
